El deber objetivo de Cuidado conforme al Reglamento y Ley del Ejercicio Profesional de los Anestesiólogos.Hamilton Jotyin Lama Tapia & Juan Carlos Pérez Ycaza - 2023 - Resistances. Journal of the Philosophy of History 4 (8):e230125.

  2. East-West Borrowings via the Silk Road of Textile Terms.James Hamilton - 1995 - Diogenes 43 (171):25-33.
The Silk Road, which began operating more than two thousand years ago, constituted certainly for many centuries the main cultural and linguistic highway between peoples of the East and peoples of the West, and to an even greater extent between the peoples of the East or West and those living along the Silk Road in Central Asia. This is reflected by the many loan words transmitted along the Silk Road from one end to the other, especially those connected with the (...)

This study was designed to investigate the effects of aging on consciousness in recognition memory, using the Remember/Know/Guess procedure . Remembering and Knowing. In E. Tulving & F. I. M. Craik , The Oxford Handbook of Memory. Oxford University Press.). In recognition memory, older participants report fewer occasions on which recognition is accompanied by recollection of the original encoding context. Farm Animal Welfare Influences on Markets and Consumer Attitudes in Latin America: The Cases of Mexico, Chile and Brazil.Einar Vargas-Bello-Pérez, Genaro C. Miranda-de la Lama, Dayane Lemos Teixeira, Daniel Enríquez-Hidalgo, Tamara Tadich & Joop Lensink - 2017 - Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics 30 (5):697-713.
In recent years, animal welfare has become an important element of sustainable production that has evolved along with the transformation of animal production systems. Consumer attitudes towards farm animal welfare are changing around the world, especially at emerging markets of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Survey-based research on consumer attitudes towards farm animal welfare has increased. However, the geographical coverage of studies on consumer attitudes and perceptions about farm animal welfare has mostly been limited to Europe, and North America. Until (...)

Love as a contested concept.Richard Paul Hamilton - 2006 - Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour 36 (3):239–254.
Theorists about love typically downplay the scale of persistent and possibly intractable disagreement about love. Where they have considered such disagreements at all, they have tended to treat them as an example of the lack of clarity surrounding the concept of love, a problem which can be resolved by philosophical analysis. In doing so, they invariably slip into prescriptive mode and offer moral injunctions in the guise of conceptual analyses. This article argues for philosophical modesty. I propose that the starting point (...)

    «All the principles of being and becoming»: Schelling’s ontogenetic hypothesis.Iain Hamilton Grant - 2020 - Rivista di Estetica 74:22-38.
Schelling’s Naturphilosophie was, from the outset, more concerned with ontogeny than ontology, i.e. not on what nature is but on what it does: ubiquitous creation. Therefore, the processes articulated in the Philosophy of Mythology remain instances of a philosophy driven by what might be called a post-naturalist naturalism. The two aims of this paper are, firstly, to demonstrate this nature-philosophical continuity throughout Schelling’s so-called Protean philosophical projects in order, secondly, to re-prepare Schellingian themes for current debates concerning ontology. To this (...)

    I tre dogmi del trascendentalismo.Iain Hamilton Grant - 2014 - Rivista di Estetica 57:241-250.
In the early twenty-first century, philosophy stemming from the continental tradition has become overtly realist. This does not mean it abandons the sophisticated structures of reflection for a givenness on the refutation of which its earliest moments, in Kant, was premised. Nor does it entail a rediscovered faith in the adequacy of intellect to thing. Rather, we might say, new realisms have issued from a critique of transcendental dogmas. In this paper I will provisionally characterise the most salient of these (...)

The crucible of Christian morality.James Ian Hamilton McDonald - 1998 - New York: Routledge.
Christian morality has been of enormous significance in world history and still underpins moral notions today. In this groundbreaking volume, J. Ian H. McDonald explores the notion of Christian ethics and discusses its roots, its significance in developing moral standards throughout the world and its stability in the modern world. The Crucible of Christian Morality begins with a study of the ethos of early Christian communities, examining the relation of cosmic vision to moral attitude and authority, noting also the types (...)

Challenges to obtaining parental permission for child participation in a school-based waterpipe tobacco smoking prevention intervention in Qatar.Rima T. Nakkash, Ahmad Al Mulla, Lena Torossian, Roubina Karhily, Lama Shuayb, Ziyad R. Mahfoud, Ibrahim Janahi, Al A. Al Ansari & Rema A. Afifi - 2014 - BMC Medical Ethics 15 (1):70.
Involving children in research studies requires obtaining parental permission. A school-based intervention to delay/prevent waterpipe use for 7th and 8th graders in Qatar was developed, and parental permission requested. Fifty three percent (2308/4314) of the parents returned permission forms; of those 19.5% of the total (840/4314) granted permission. This paper describes the challenges to obtaining parental permission. No research to date has described such challenges in the Arab world.

    Involution.Ernest Hamilton - 1912 - London,: Mills & Boon.
Excerpt from Involution The word "involution" implies a folding in towards the centre. It seems to bear a different sense to the word "concentration," inasmuch as the latter carries with it the suggestion of an organised movement directed from outside, while involution takes rather the form of an automatic convergence. The word is here used in the latter sense, and it has been chosen as the title of this book because it is the word which seems to describe best the (...)

    Moral Collapse in a Warming World.Clive Hamilton - 2014 - Ethics and International Affairs 28 (3):335-342.
In his definitive book A Perfect Moral Storm, ethicist Stephen Gardiner argues that the way forward in a climate-changed world is so difficult in part because we “do not yet have a good understanding of many of the ethical issues at stake in global-warming policy.” We remain confused about such vital questions as who should take responsibility for the current condition, how to preserve equity between generations, and how best to think about our responsibility toward nonhuman animals. The resistance of (...)
